Part-time Arts Coordinator

Queenstown Arts Society is looking to contract a Part-time Arts Coordinator

QAS is offering two contracts for the calendar year of 2025.

The first commences 30 Jan 2025 and runs for 17 weeks.
The second commences 7 July 2025 and runs for 22 weeks. The total hours of both contracts will be 400 hours. The contract model is based on the formula of 10 hours per week for 40 weeks on average, but flexibility is required when major events are happening and working hours will need to be adjusted. This will be negotiated in advance with the successful applicant.

The work will deal primarily with art administration duties of:

  1. Running a permanent exhibition space,
  2. One Member’s Exhibition per contract,
  3. Liaising with QAS committee, Te Atamira and artists,
  4. Social media coordination,
  5. Finding sponsorships/partnerships,
  6. Understanding and creating programme opportunities,
  7. Coordinating art sales and other associated activities.
  8. Website maintenance and updating.

QAS is looking for an individual with:

  • Administration experience (not necessarily in visual arts),
  • Project management skills will be an advantage (to collaborate on and lead initiatives)
  • Interested in visual art and artists as part of a community,
  • Can use or is willing to use project management software (such as Asana),
  • Has website management experience (able to use square space is an advantage).

The contracts will be at $42 hr (inclusive of GST).
